Wildlife and Whale Watching Opportunities
Outstanding wildlife viewing is a key feature of every aspect of the Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge experience.
A stay at the Glacier Lodge begins and ends with a marine wildlife and glacier cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park—an ideal way to explore the beauty of Alaska's seacoast. Small boat touring is often the preferred mode of travel for more intimate wilderness experiences and enhanced natural history interpretation.
Relax and take in the beauty of this pristine area - both to and from the Lodge - as your experienced skipper navigates through the fjords. Feel the salt spray mix with mountain mist as we explore the stunning seascape and listen for the thundering booms as giant slabs of glacier calve into the sea, heard as far as 20 miles away. Seek out Steller sea lions, sea otters, Dall's porpoises, humpback and orca whales and more. Bald eagles and puffins represent some of the most charismatic examples of the myriad of birdlife that call the Park home.
On site, harbor seals, sea and river otters, mountain goats, black bears, bald eagles and a multitude of birdlife cavort - often in view from the Lodge or your cabin. By land or by sea, the abundant wildlife of Kenai Fjords National Park is sure to be a highlight of your stay at Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge.
